His Supernatural stint made him feel that he needed to add muscle mass and that’s how the Jared Padalecki Workout started – with the guidance of the famous American powerlifter, Scot Mendelson. In the Men’s Health interview he did, Jared acknowledged Scot Mendelson for helping him packed on 35 pounds of muscle while keeping lean at the same time. He even shared what he learned from the two-time bench-press world champion.

Jared said that Scot told him to get strong to get big. The powerlifter explained to him that more muscle fibers get activated when heavier weights are used and more active muscle fibers will produce greater result. Jared took Scot’s advice. He basically packed on plates so that he may pack on size. On top of his rounds of heavy weights, Jared has been snacking on protein shakes containing about 600 calories, as per Scot’s recommendation as well. And indeed, the result was amazing. Jared became as ripped as ever.

According to a research, muscle fibers indeed reach their maximum growth when the weights used are 80 to 95 percent of the amount the person can lift before. However, this principle only applies to experienced lifters. Beginners are advised to use light weights as it is said that they can gain the best possible result just by exerting 60 percent of their effort. Meanwhile, it is claimed that protein shakes don’t just enhance performance but also help repair the so-called muscle injuries brought about by intense workout.

Bulking up is never easy especially if you are a hardgainer. However, you can draw some inspiration from Jared Padalecki, the skinny dude who successfully achieved a toned and lean body. Consider trying the Jared Padalecki Workout if you want to have a great body just like Jared. Before you start your 6 pack journey, there’s one important thing you need to ask yourself – How badly do you want it? Be honest.

This plan will be sustainable long term for you and will probably lead to an over all increased quality of life because you’ll be getting a fit body and you’ll be able to eat, too. This is not the plan that will take you to the ultimate, 4% body-fat lean guy who’s ab muscles poke you in the eye when you look at them.

If your answer to the first question is “really, really, REALLY bad, I might be willing to trade my first born for it” then you’ll take a different approach. From what I see and understand about the industry, body builders and fitness models and actors like Jared Padalecki t is to have their body’s appearance as their first priority. This means they sacrifice taste, satiety, and even sanity sometimes to get their body fat % down to their desired goal.

This plan would most likely not be sustainable and may quite possibly leave you disgruntled and frustrated.

All that being said, it is completely possible to follow the first plan and, depending on how committed you are to your routine, you can expect to see dramatic weight and body fat loss within 4-7 weeks. I personally recommend full body High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) workouts for 30-40 minutes 3 times a week on alternating days (one day HIIT, next day off). On the in between days find a way to be active that allows you to move your body and engage your muscles while being low-key enough to provide ample recovery for your body so you’re ready to go for your next HIIT day. Take 2 days off in a row, again to give your body recovery time so you’re ready to go the next week.

The speed of your progress depends entirely on you – where you’re starting from (body fat percentage, activity level, etc.) and how dedicated you are to following your winning routine.

Figure out what the best plan is that will help you balance your life while still reaching your fitness goals, and keep pushing until you get there. Remember, above all, make sure the plan incorporates your personal mental/emotional needs so you stay motivated and enjoy the experience! Also, be open to making adjustments to your plan along the way.

In the long term, training with weights will increase your lean body mass and your basal metabolic rate, so you’ll be burning more calories all the time. Kettlebells and exercise programmes like P90X can add variation to your workouts, which is always a good thing, as the body adapts quickly to any demands we impose on it, and regularly changing those demands is the best way to elicit change in the long run.

But keep your resistance training at the base of your exercise programme: investing in muscle mass wil change your body composition and sooner or later those abs will show, provided…

… provided your diet is good. It’s a fact that you can’t out-train a bad diet. Our bodies are extremely efficient at storing excess calories, and burning those excess calories by means of physical activity can take a long time. You need to make sure you’re creating a daily energy deficit with your diet and exercise, while still consuming enough calories to stay healthy and support your exercise schedule. A personalised nutritional plan that takes into account your current body composition, your activity level and your lifestyle can make all the difference in the world in your quest for ripped 6-pack abs!

Diet and exercise are the tried and true way to do it. What works is not only a 6 small meal a day regime, but also a CLEAN eating regime, and lots of water. High protein and low carbohydrate, with 1 day a week to include a cheat meal. Being aware of what exactly is put in your body every single time you open your mouth is important too.

A Jared Padalecki Type Diet

This means you’ll be consuming basically meat, eggs, fruit, veggies, and nuts/ seeds.

Cook your food in coconut oil and use cold-pressed olive oil in salads not it the pan or oven – olive oil is pretty sensitive to heat and will be damaged by high temperatures, turning the molecules into ‘free radicals’ which in turn damage all your body’s tissues.

Drink way more water than you think you need. Use the equation “bodyweight / 2 = number of ounces you need everyday at minimum” and/or no less than 3 liters a day (spread out your water consumption evenly – I find it’s really helpful to start the day with 1 big glass to get the habit started).

You can replace 1 meal a day with protein powder, right after your workout, blended with some or eaten with a piece of fruit to refuel your muscles.

Don’t get turned off by the word “Diet” as that gives all the wrong signals.

How to get the Padalecki Body

The Padalecki workout has a few key sections which you should focus on as you wouldn’t get his physique by just doing cardio. Cardio will only make you slim, up to a certain degree. So what do you actually have to do to get the Jared package?

Jared Padalecki’s Shoulders

Shoulders can be increased quite quickly as a lot of workouts will incorporate the shoulders muscles. For instance a basic back workout will include some shoulder muscles and so does a chest workout. Some great workouts will include doing Pull-ups, Push ups, Dumbbell Press and (seated) rows.

Abs are a combination of Ab exercistes, proper diet and a good cardio regime. The exercises are fairly easy, as basic ab crunches will get you a long way. The hard part are the lower abs but those can be targeted too. Then a good diet will help you get rid of some of the fat around the belly area, the difficult area. The cardio part will help to make your Abs visible but also you other overall appearance so the muscles pop out more.

Padalecki’s chest is well developed which means a lot of push-ups and bench presses are a must. To sculpt the chest more, especially the lower area of the chest you need to bench press the weights on an angle, this is an incline press. Other exercises are pull-ups, dumbbell presses, dips and cable exercises to sculpt the chest. area.

To make sure your body fits properly it is important not to forget the legs. It just looks wrong if you are build above the waist area and just have chicken legs. You don’t need massive legs but incorporating squats (which are great for your cardio) is a must. Padalecki made sure that his legs fit the rest of his body so that his full body is toned and muscular.

If you want the Padalecki workout then you need to be training a few months solid and have the proper diet. You will see that you gain strength rather quickly but the toning of  your body will take the extra time. Don’t forget to change up your routine and switch from heavy weights to lighter weights and more reps. This will stop you from gaining muscle but will train the existing muscle. Its there that the definition will start to set in.

Any good Jared Padalecki fan will love to hear some random trivia about the star. When the re-launch of the Superman film franchise was proposed, Padalecki was considered for the dual role of Clark Kent and Superman. In 1998, Padalecki and Chris Cardeans, his classmate, won the national championship for the National Forensics League for their work in Duo Interpretation. Padalecki proposed to his girlfriend in Paris while on vacation during the writers’ strike, but announced in 2008 that they were no longer together. Today, he’s married to Genevieve Padalecki, with whom he has a child. The couple was married in February 2010 in Sun Valley, Idaho. Padalecki is 6’4 and has an older brother named Jeff and a younger sister named Megan. He also has two dogs.

In his interview with Men’s Health, Jared Padalecki willingly shared what made his body so ripped. He acknowledged the assistance he got from Scot Mendelson. Scot Mendelson is a famous American powerlifter. He has 2 world champion titles in bench-press under his belt.

According to Jared, Scot has said that one needs to get strong in order to get big. He has been advised to have short but intense workouts. Jared was also asked to use heavier weights by the powerlifter, explaining that when heavy weights are used, more muscle fibers get activated. The more active muscle fibers a person has, the greater development he can expect.

Another vital part of Jared Padalecki’s workout for Supernatural is the protein shakes Scot told him to snack on. Jared then consumed 600-calorie protein shakes to enhance his already solid workout regime. As per Scot’s directions, Jared Padalecki successfully gained 35 pounds of muscle while maintaining his leanness at the same time.

Heavy weights and shakes it is. Not so fast. According to a research, carrying weights that are 80 to 95 percent of the weight you can lift before works best for experienced lifters.  Experienced lifters grow the most muscle fibers by carrying heavy weights. Jared Padalecki got an offer to star in the Friday the 13th remake in 2009 which he really took seriously. In an interview he did with the Black Book Mag, he said that he tried to bulk up a little bit for the role. He didn’t want to look like the fighting skinny boy when he faced off Jason. He wanted to make it more believable so he made sure that he was at the peak of his fitness. He worked out harder and drank his protein shakes diligently.
